OES-Community-Treffen #2 | Publishing in open formats with Open Encyclopedia System
Mar 21, 2024 - Mar 22, 2024
The second OES community meeting will take place on 21 and 22 March 2024. The Open Encyclopedia System (OES) is an editorial and publication environment developed at the FU Berlin for the creation, management and publication of lemma-based publication formats such as online encyclopaedias, online dictionaries or living handbooks. As an open, versatile and customisable application, OES offers comprehensive functionalities ranging from the design of editorial workflows and the incremental management of content and metadata to the embedding of multimedia elements, standard data and bibliographic information.
The OES community meeting serves as a platform for co-learning and exchange between editors, editorial teams and developers of the various publication projects that rely on the Open Encyclopedia System for the realisation of quality-assured online publications in Open Access. During the two-day meeting, the participants will present current developments and challenges of their publication projects and discuss conceptual, editorial and functional features of the "Living Handbook" publication format. The participatory workshop also serves as a practical introduction to the installation and editorial work with the OES as well as a discussion of existing and planned OES features.
The 2nd OES User Meeting is a joint initiative of the Center for Digital Systems (CeDiS/UB) and the Research Area 5 "Building Digital Communities" (EXC 2020) (Freie Universität Berlin). Participation is by invitation. The workshop will be held in German.
